Data for Children Collaborative has been shortlisted for the DataIQ 2024 Awards in the Best Ethical Data Initiative category in the Data and AI for Good stream.

Data for Children Collaborative supports The Data Tank’s NextGenData initiative, which focuses on pioneering a new approach to youth engagement in data and service provision.

The two-day event focused on brokering science, knowledge and action to support dryland communities across East Africa.

Data for Children Collaborative Deputy Director Fraser Macdonald has joined the Young Scot Board.

Our annual report is a chance for us to reflect on our progress, what we've learned and, most importantly, how we use data to improve children's outcomes. We are excited to share with you some of the highlights, showing how our work continues to create real-world impact.

Fraser Macdonald, Deputy Director at the Data for Children Collaborative, has been honoured with the prestigious DataIQ Award for 2023 in the Data for Good Champion category. This award recognises his outstanding dedication to utilising data and analytics to improve society, mainly focusing on child-centric challenges.  

A short interview with our new Senior Project Manager, Olivia Hale. Olivia joined our team in May this year with extensive project management experience, thorough understanding of knowledge exchange and impact best practice in a research environment, and knowledge of internal structures/networks at the University of Edinburgh. Olivia has indeed hit the ground running in her new role.

In efforts to set out a roadmap for a fairer digital Scotland, the Scottish Government publishes ‘Building Trust in the Digital Era: Achieving Scotland’s Aspirations as an Ethical Digital Nation Digital Ethics Expert Group Report’. The key narrative of this publication is building trust with the people of Scotland through engaging them in digital decisions that affect their lives.

We’re delighted to release our Annual Report for 2022. It’s been a busy year for the Collaborative. With 7 project underway, 10 completed and 32 project partners, it has been a year of growth for us as a data collaborative and learning how to bring data to life with the human side of the story.

We are thrilled to announce that The Data for Children Collaborative with UNICEF has won DataIQ 2022 Data for Society Award for its innovative approach to leveraging data to tackle some of the world's most pressing issues, with a focus on children.
