Extended Travel Time Maps for the African Continent and Beyond: Child Poverty Access to Services

An extended dataset of individual travel time maps for the 54 countries across the African continent and the neighbouring island states, generated with the precision of a 100-meter resolution.

Building on the success of the original work and methods (Children Poverty Access to Services - CPAS Method) developed while investigating mapping children's physical accessibility to key services like health facilities, clinics, schools, etc., the team created more sustainable 100m resolution maps for the entire continent of Africa and its island states, including 54 Countries. The team delivered a scalable solution for generating travel maps for many countries that uses only free open data so that it can be run for most countries worldwide.

The maps are now available for wider use through the Humanitarian Data Exchange (HDX).
