Final Report: Strengthening the availability of timely and granular data to better identify gender-related barriers to immunisation
Our collaborative project with UNICEF and the School of Geosciences at the University of Edinburgh has recently come to a close, culminating in a comprehensive manuscript mapping the gender-related barriers to vaccinations across Geographic Information System maps of population density.
This project sought to link existing data sources on population characteristics, health outcomes and health infrastructure to provide insights on determinant of health inequities that obstruct immunisation.
By mapping travel time to health services, using the model created as part of our Child Poverty Access to Services project, in combination with identifying additional proxies for barriers and mapping vaccination and barriers data along with maps of population density, our team have created a manuscript that can be used to inform targeted pro-equity strategies that will tackle gender-related barriers to immunisation.
