Background & Detail:

The Data for Children Collaborative with UNICEF was set up to explore how data science could be brought to bear on societal issues facing children in Scotland and across the globe, and how this might inform new approaches to policy and practice in UNICEF and Scottish Government.

In this context, the aim of this project is to conduct a desk-based exercise that maps the sources of information (data) - and details about these sources - that are seen to relate to understanding more about the socioeconomic impacts of COVID-19 for and on children, and by extension how to tackle them.

The project should answer questions such as:

  • What data is available;

  • How it is accessed;

  • What’s it periodicity and relevance;

  • What organisations need to be engaged with as partners to access this data?

Desired Outcome:

Publicly accessible report outlining best approaches, mapped capability and available data, for addressing the socioeconomic impact of COVID-19 on children.
